John Jay kicked off the new year with a major leak. On February 9, 2026 there was a major leak in the school. In the hallways and in the computer science room backroom, that caused disruption in the school building. It was really bad. I was in the middle of practice when Ms. Sandusky came into the gym and asked me and some of my teammates to help move the computers out of the computer science room because the water was so bad.
The leak appeared to be spreading inside the hallway and in the computer science room. There was expensive equipment at risk so the basketball team was asked to help take everything out as fast as they could along with the principal and the computer science teacher. They wanted to ensure that there was no damage done to any equipment. There were so many computers in the room no one knew if the computers would get wet and stop working.
The basketball team members stepped up significantly and played a big part in making sure nothing was damaged.
Thanks to their efforts the computers were saved, the hallways were being fixed, and classes were able to continue the next day. While the leak created an unexpected challenge, it showed how strong our community is. The basketball team willingly displayed leadership and responsibility within the school.
In the end, what started as a messy situation turned into a moment of team work and unity that represented the school in a way that some may not forget. Their quick response made a big impact while the maintenance crew worked on controlling the leak in the hallways and computer room.

![According to Ms. King, the weirdest thing Irv does that makes him unique, is acting like a cat! For example, when Irv is mad at Ms. King, he will knock things over to get a reaction out of her, just like a cat would. I find it cute, it shows that Irv has a big personality.
